Niki Kafashzadeh, M.S., CCC-SLP
Niki is a speech language pathologist who has completed her first level of PROMPT© training: in PROMPT© Technique. Niki is also trained in Myofunctional Therapy through Jennifer Triandafilou’s Simon Says program.
She is an active certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Niki earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Maryland, College park before attending Howard University where she received her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology.
She has practiced speech therapy in rehabilitation centers with adults and also works with children and adults from ages birth to 85 at a private practice. She has experience with pragmatic language disorders, developmental delays, expressive and receptive delays, articulation, oral motor disorder, myofunctional disorders and fluency disorders.
Niki loves music, cooking , exercising, hiking, biking, traveling and spending time with her family and her mini goldendoodle, Cooper. Niki’s mother is a local orthodontist and professor at Howard University where she teaches orthodontics. Given her mother’s background in orthodontia, this led to Niki’s interest in specializing in oral myofunctional therapy within the field of speech language pathology where the two fields work closely together. Niki specializes in helping children and adults with thumb sucking habits and reverse swallow as well as nasal vs oral breathing habits.
